Getting Whiter Teeth

Over time, teeth can become stained as a result of the natural aging process or because of exposure to things like coffee or red wine. Everyone loves a healthy, white smile, but dentist's whitening treatments can be costly. At-home whitening products like Aquafresh White Trays contain a whitening agent that removes the stains that naturally build up on your teeth.

All bleaching procedures, whether done at home or at the dentist's office, contain either carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. Aquafresh White Trays has about 11% hydrogen peroxide, which is a very effective concentration. The hydrogen peroxide is enamel-safe; however, it's important to know that no whitening product will whiten crowns, caps, veneers or dentures.

The effectiveness of your at-home whitening treatment depends on the dose and contact time the bleaching agent has with your teeth. Aquafresh White Trays are flexible pre-filled trays that can conform to fit your teeth, so the gel covers more surface area than traditional whitening strips.

When the gel makes contact with your teeth, the whitening ingredient penetrates the enamel and oxidizes stain deposits that have built up there. Over a period of time, the dentin layer, located underneath the enamel, is also bleached. At-home whiteners also differ in how often they need to be used. With White Trays, you use the product just once a day for 45 minutes for 7 days. The results should last 6 months to a year.
